EDIT: Two years later, I’m returning to this review to delete it. I hated this book.
To be sure, I think that Scalzi as an author has chops. The prose sings off the page, and some of the humor lands. I just hate the use of bathos in entertainment, and this book is dripping with bathos. I will not be reading more Scalzi in the future. But if you like bathos or empty-calorie novels, ‘Kaiju’ might be your thing.
I am deleting this because I am in the process of trying to get a book published, and I’m trying to clean up my internet profile.
