Deadly Ever After
This is a graphic novel set in the Rivers of London series. I enjoyed it heartily. In this story, it features as the protagonists Olympia and Chelsea, Bev’s younger sisters. They must go on an adventure, solving a mystery of why folktales like ‘The Frog Prince’ and ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ are coming to life in modern London, to darkly bloody results.
The entire Rivers of London Graphic Novel series is just a gem. You can pretty much read it in any order, and I personally enjoy it more than the main line of novels. They publish a new graphic novel once or twice a year, and I always look forward to them.
The Curse of Chalion Goodreads
This is a re-re-re-read of this book. It’s a comfort read for me. I’ve already done a critique for this book before; read that review if you want my in-depth impressions.
Whenever I read this book, I find more details to it I’ve never noticed before. This time, I noticed that dy Cazaril is a very reserved person, but has a sardonic inner monologue. I’ve never noticed before; I own and ‘read’ the audiobook version, and as a result subtle details like spoken dialogue vs internal monologue sounds the same unless you’re really paying attention.
Other than that, this book is amazingly well structured. There’s no fat on this story, every chapter serves to advance the plot in some way. It’s really well done.
