April Accountability Post

I’m trying something a little different this month. You won’t see any changes in the format here, but on my back end I’m trying a new strategy to keep myself accountable in writing. Also, as mentioned in March, I’m focusing less on my reviews so I can spend more time writing. I’m hoping to bring my daily wordcount up to the 2000-3000 words.

  • 1st
    • I finished ‘Dealing with Dragons.’ It’s a charming child’s story, targeted to the 10-14 demographic. Reminded me of ‘Howl’s Moving Castle,’ but with a more precocious POV.
    • I wrote 654 words.
  • 2nd
    • I listened to a little of ‘Alanna: First Adventure.’ It’s fine, but the plot is meandering. The plot is made up of plot arc, after plot arc, after plot arc, with each one ending seconds before the next again. This makes the book feel episodic. This isn’t innately a bad thing, but cause this book is so short I don’t think it’s doing this book any favors.
    • I wrote nothing.

    • I’m liking Holy Sister. Has a few flaws, but it’s polished plot-wise, and I’m liking it more than Grey Sister. Nearly as good as Red Sister.
  • 12
    • I finished Holy Sister and wrote the review. I wrote no words for my own book, but instead put ~1200 words into the Holy Sister review.
