First Draft of ‘An Arrival Upon Arcadia’ Complete! Also blog update.

I just thought I’d share my personal success with ya’ll. Here’s some info: the title clocks in at 80600 words long (before content edits which will probably shave off at least 10,000 words). I began the book in mid June, so it took me four months to write it. The book is something of a pre-sequel for the book ARCADIA BESIEGED’ I wrote earlier this year.

As I always do, I’m going to set aside this draft for a few so I can focus on another project. In this case I’m going to go back to redouble my editing efforts on ARCADIA BESIEGED. It’s always a bad idea to edit a book while it’s still fresh in your mind, so that’s why I’m letting this one rest for a bit.

Also, I’ve run into a stumbling block reading-wise. I’ve realized that my writing and editing has really suffered this year because I’ve been reading so many books and writing so many reviews. Writing books and writing reviews occupy similar creative brain space for me so it’s hard to do both at the same time. Also, maintaining this blog and writing are both fairly time consuming tasks, so it’s difficult to do both.

My New Year’s Resolution for this year that I’d write four books. Now it’s looking like I’ll only manage three- and that’s if I push myself hard in the next three months to write a third. This is a fairly major disappointment for me, so I’m going to change my priorities. I’m probably not going to be able to meet my goal of reading 200 books. I’m going to readjust my goal down to 160. I am presently at 140, so only 20 more books this year.

I’m adjusting my posting schedule for my blog. I’m no longer going to be posting 3-4 times a week, but instead lowing the flow down to 2-3. I’ll hopefully be able to provide higher quality content and better reviews if I slow down the flood.

Also, I’m going to start writing some articles about ‘The Craft of Writing.’ I’m only an aspiring writer, so the main purpose of these essays is to coagulate my own viewpoints on various topics so I know what I think about them. I hope ya’ll find them just as useful.

Finally, for the last few months I’ve been putting together a list of Influential Fantasy books, which I hope to make public on New Year’s Day. I’m hoping to make this blog a less busy but more substantial in the coming moths.

Wish me luck!
