Here’s the TL;DR for my review (SPOILERS!):

  • Pros
    • Lots of pictures to explain what is being described
    • Approachably written
    • The author has created a good ground-level explaination of what life was life and what lingo people used in the trenches.
  • Mixed
  • Cons
    • Pretty much exclusively talks about the Allies perspective of the Western Front.

I liked this a lot. This is my new go-to beginner’s guide to WW1 for history buff’s. The author did a good job of bringing history to life, with 3+ hand drawings per page.
